I can’t believe this.
Two unpopular opinions in one month.
What is happening!
There’s a phrase that I've heard people use this week and I've realised I really don’t agree with it.
I’m sure you’ll know it.
It says ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life’
For those of us that are self-employed and run a business, I don’t think that is always true.
I love what I do. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be here after 6 years. But there are times when it is HARD WORK. Does that mean if you're finding work hard, you can’t possibly love what you do? There are always going to be bits of our business that we find difficult and there’s no shame in that. It doesn’t mean you aren’t good at what you do or don’t still love it. I was speaking to someone in The Best 90 Days Ever about what happens when you can’t find that motivation and excitement about your business. They said they loved it when they got a message on a Saturday morning with their client’s results, but apart from that they just haven’t got that same excitement for their business right now.
I’ve definitely felt the same and I suggested they do something to get that back. What do you enjoy most about your business? What gets you excited!
Is it hearing results from your clients?
Creating a new product or service?
Finding a new supplier or brand?
Collaborating with someone?
Maybe it’s taking the things you find overwhelming and asking for help with them? If you’re finding things hard and struggling to find the enjoyment in your business at the moment, it’s okay to ask for help and try to get that back. And if it’s social media or marketing, I’m here to support you. Add some festive cheer to your business this December and get back to focusing on the parts you love!
